Wi-Fi® performance technologies

CWG-RF

Developed with CTIA®, this is a test program developed for converged devices with both Wi-Fi and cellular technology. The testing provides detailed information about the performance of the Wi-Fi radio in a converged handset, as well as how the cellular and Wi-Fi radios interact with one another. Although this test program is not an element of Wi-Fi certification, completion of the testing is mandatory for Wi-Fi enabled handsets.

Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Voice-Enterprise

Voice-Enterprise is designed to help large enterprise networks deliver voice quality in applications such as online collaboration tools and meeting applications and enable consistent Wi-Fi calling while traversing large campuses across multiple access points (APs). Voice-Enterprise devices ensure consistent voice quality remains high while latency, jitter, and packet loss remain low. Key features of Voice-Enterprise include:

  • Traffic prioritization, with WMM® allowing network administrators to prioritize voice traffic over other multimedia traffic to provide quality of service specific to voice applications
  • Bandwidth management, with WMM-Admission Control providing bandwidth management tools to optimize voice delivery and balance traffic load
  • Seamless transitions, where fast basic service set (BSS) transition ensures that users can move across areas in the Wi-Fi network that are covered by different APs
  • WMM-Power Save optimizes power consumption to extend the battery life of handheld devices
  • Enterprise-level Wi-Fi security

Wi-Fi Device Metrics

Wi-Fi Device Metrics is a testing tool for evaluating the quality of devices on a network, promoting standardized methodologies and uniform terminology to help characterize and evaluate Wi-Fi devices by measuring throughput, latency, and user experience across various deployment scenarios. The best practices and definitions contained within this framework standardize performance measurement and simplify device evaluation. IT managers and network architects can use Wi-Fi Device Metrics to distinguish high-performance devices that can provide better customer experiences.
